PTO OFFICER ELECTIONS FOR 2023-2024

Updated: Aug 20, 2023

Hello Central Families,

As the school year comes to an end, we are already looking forward to next school year. Our PTO Executive Board consists of nine parent/guardian volunteers who are passionate about raising funds which enhance the learning environment and thank teachers and staff during several events throughout the year.

We are looking for parents who are willing and able to give their time and talents to serve the Central family on our Executive Board. We meet at least seven times throughout the school year on days and times convenient for most members. Elected board members serve for one school year and can serve two consecutive years in each role. All roles are up for annual reelection through self-nominations. The volunteer positions with known vacancies are Vice-President, Treasurer, Corresponding Secretary, and Volunteer Co-Coordinator. You may self-nominate for any position. Please read the descriptions below, and consider giving your time for the 2023-2024 school year.

President: The president sets the agenda and presides over meetings of the organization and executive board, serves as the primary contact for the principal, represents the organization at meetings outside the organization, serves as an ex officio member of all committees, and coordinates the work of all the officers and committees so that the purpose of the organization is served.

Vice President: The vice president assists the president and carries out the president’s duties in his/her absence or inability to serve and coordinates standing committee work for PTO.

Treasurer: The treasurer shall receive all funds of the organization, keep an accurate record of receipts and expenditures, file appropriate tax documentation in accordance with our 501(c)(3) charitable organization status, and pay out funds in accordance with the approval of the executive board. He/she will present a financial statement at every meeting and at other times of the year when requested by the executive board and make a full report at the end of each school year. Our current Treasurer would love to train someone to make the transition process easier.

Corresponding Secretary: The corresponding secretary shall coordinate correspondence to and from the PTO, such as maintain website, social media, emails, publicity, thank you letters, and has the responsibility for safekeeping all the correspondences of the PTO.

Recording Secretary: The recording secretary shall record the minutes at every meeting, including Regular, Special and Executive Board meetings of the PTO.

Volunteer Coordinator/Co-Coordinator: The volunteer coordinator/co-coordinator shall organize the master volunteer list and coordinate volunteers for PTO events including teacher luncheons, Open House, meal events, graduations, etc.

Fundraising Coordinator/Co-Coordinator: The fundraising coordinator/Co-Coordinator shall coordinate all PTO fundraising events (ex. Brighter Future, Super Trivia Bowl, and Box Tops), set fundraising goals, and apply for grants.

To add your name to the ballot, please send your name and the role you would like to self-nominate for in an e-mail to Melissa Dodd at doddme@rcschools.net by April 3rd. If you have any questions, please contact the current board at centralmagnetpto@gmail.com. We look forward to working with you!
